On March 31, 2021, registration began for the fourth competition "Leaders of Russia", a project of the presidential platform "Russia is the Land of Opportunities". Among its special tracks is the track "Science", initiated by the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in the Scientific and Educational Spheres.

By the decree of the President of Russia in 2021 the Year of Science and Technology was declared in the Russian Federation. The track “Science” in the competition “Leaders of Russia” is designed to identify key researchers, scientists, science popularizers, professional leaders-administrators who are ready to achieve results, make scientific breakthroughs, develop research centers, educational institutions and, of course, to increase the country's prestige in the international arena.

“Our country has wonderful scientists and traditions, and our attitude to science has radically changed. Today, a significant number of young people see their future connected with science. Special attention should be paid to management problems in this area. Leaders are people who can not only do something very well, but they are those who can create a team, lead this team and, most importantly, achieve the expected result, '' emphasized in his speech the Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, curator of the Track "Science" Andrei Fursenko. - During the competition, and during the events following the competition, there appear a lot of new tools: educational intsruments and  opportunities to consolidate the efforts of participants in the competition. But the most important thing is that it stimulates children to pay special attention to the problem of leadership in science.

Approximately 22,000 people took part in the first competition. The winners received additional opportunities to get new knowledge and new masters. Most importantly, they became a part of a very important team, establishing connections and contacts with each other. And today they already represent a single whole.”

The winners of the "Science" track can win certificates for completing programs of additional professional education and advanced training; they will have the opportunity of internships and postgraduate studies in the organizations of the partners of the Competition organizers; they will take part in master classes and other events in priority areas of scientific and technological development and become part of the Coordination Council.

They will also have the opportunity to learn from the best experience of the leaders of Russian science: the winners will be taught and supervised by members of the Presidential Council for Science and Education, heads of major universities and research organizations, heads of corporations and leading Russian scientists.

After the completion of the competition “Leaders of Russia 2020” in the Science direction, 21 participants have received new appointments to date. Among them is the winner of the main competition and the winner of the Science direction, Alexander Samardak, who notes that it is owing to his high results of participation in the project that he managed to get the post of Vice-rector for Science at the Far Eastern Federal University. “The competition helped me a lot, it allowed me to jump several steps on the way to this position,” he adds.

Among the partners of the track "Science" are the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, NRC "Kurchatov Institute", N.E. Bauman Moscow State Technical University, MAI, National Research University Higher School of Economics, National University of Science and Technology "MISiS", BIOCAD and other leading universities and research organizations, as well as technology corporations.

Requirements for track participants:
• citizenship of the Russian Federation;
• age up to 55 years;
• higher education;
• management experience of at least two years;
• experience in research and development;
• at least one scientific (popular science) publication or patent.

During the Competition, participants will be able to reveal their potential in management and see new growth prospects, find worthy rivals and create their own team of like-minded people for realizing their most ambitious ideas.

Participation in the competition is a unique chance to become a part of the scientific community of leaders and build one’s brilliant career in the scientific and technological field.

The applications are accepted until April 26.
