By the order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Nikolai Vasilievich Chesnokov has been appointed the Acting Director of the Federal Research Center of the Krasnoyarsk Science Center SB RAS as from November 5, 2019 until approval by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Nikolai Vasilievich Chesnokov - Doctor of Chemical Sciences, a specialist in the study of the laws of formation of the porous structure of carbon materials obtained by chemical modification and subsequent heat treatment of natural plant polymers, fossil coals and graphites, catalytic processes of plant biomass processing. He is the author and co-author of more than 250 scientific publications, including 2 monographs, and 15 patents for inventions.

Prior to his appointment in August 2016, he held the position of Deputy Director for Science at the Federal Research Center of the Krasnoyarsk Science Center SB RAS. From 2013 to the present, he has been the Director of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology SB RAS. Nikolai Chesnokov, member of the RAS Scientific Council on Coal Chemistry, member of the editorial boards of peer-reviewed scientific journals "Chemistry for Sustainable Development"; "SibFU Journal. Chemistry Series"; "Siberian Forest Journal".

An employment contract with the Director of the Federal Research Center of the Krasnoyarsk Science Center SB RAS, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nikita Valentinovich Volkov was terminated on October 29, 2019 at his initiative.
