By order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Alexander Shpedt was officially appointed as Director of the Federal Research Center "Krasnoyarsk Science Center SB RAS" starting from October 29, 2021. The approval was made on the basis of the decision of the FRC KSC team based on the results of ballot voting. 1744 employees of the Center took part in the voting, which is 69.5% of the total number of employees.

Shpedt Alexander Arturovich is Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, specialist in the field of soil science and agrochemistry, member of the editorial board of the journal "Soils and Environment". He is the member of the dissertation council D 220.037.06 at the Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University, specialty 06.01.01 (general agriculture), expert of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and expert of the Krasnoyarsk Science Foundation. He is also the author of 198 scientific publications, including 7 monographs and 1 patent.

The main scientific results of A.A.Shpedt are:
system of natural and economic assessment of the soil cover of agricultural lands in Siberia has been developed;
relationship has been investigated between the content of humus, mobile humic substances, mobile nitrogen in chernozems, and the yield of grain crops;
gradation of the content of forms of humic substances in relation to grain crops has been developed;
factors and conditions for optimization of organic matter of chernozems of the Yenisei Siberia have been investigated;
criteria and gradation of plowing have been developed;
mathematical models have been created for predicting the content of humus, mobile humic substances in soils of different age deposits, taking into account climatic conditions;
recommendations for the sustainable use of soils of fallow lands have been developed; transformation of soil and land resources under the influence of climate has been studied; approaches and methods of digitalization of farming systems and practical recommendations for the application of GIS technologies have been developed.

A.A. Shpedt takes an active part in the training of scientific staff; he teaches students at the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education "Siberian Federal University"; he gives a course of lectures on biogeochemistry; he is the Chairman of the State Attestation Commission and State Examination Commission  at the Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University and Irkutsk State University; he is also the supervisor of two post-graduate students.
A.A. Shpedt is awarded with the order of "Labor Glory" of the second and third classes. He is the Laureate of the State Prize of the Krasnoyarsk Region in the field of professional training.
