By the decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the state award Order of Honor for a great contribution to the development of science and long-term conscientious work has been awarded to the director of the Research Institute of Medical Problems of the North of FRC KSC SB RAS, Eduard Vilyamovich Kasparov.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Eduard Kasparov is the Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, holder of the highest qualification category in the specialties "Health Organization and Public Health" and "Endoscopy". He is a member of the Expert Council for Interdepartmental Quality Control of Medical Care, the Russian Association of Endoscopic Surgery, and the Academy of Polar Medicine and Extreme Human Ecology.

One of the goals of Kasparov's work as director of the institute is to unite the efforts of researchers and doctors, to eliminate the gap between fundamental and applied science, clinical research and clinical practice. Every year more than 7000 patients from Krasnoyarsk and other regions of Siberia receive highly qualified medical care at the Research Institute of Medical Problems of the North with the efficient application of scientific methods.

In the clinic of the Research Institute, on the initiative of Eduard Kasparov, the only regional children's pulmonary-allergological center has been staffed with qualified medical personnel. Here, the mechanisms of pulmonary pathology development are studied, new treatment technologies are developed, and  intensive complex methods of diagnostics and therapy of acute and chronic respiratory diseases are introduced.

Eduard Kasparov is the author of 375 publications and 23 monographs, including those on the health problems of indigenous people and newcomer population of the Far North; he is author of 8 inventions, 10 teaching aids. Under his supervision, 15 candidate and 3 doctoral dissertations were defended.

For his merits in the field of healthcare and many years of conscientious work, Eduard Kasparov was awarded the title "Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation" in 2002 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation. In 2011, for his outstanding contribution to the development of Krasnoyarsk, Kasparov was awarded the badge of honor "Coat of arms of Krasnoyarsk", and in 2014 - the jubilee honorary badge of the Krasnoyarsk Region "80 years of the Krasnoyarsk Region". In 2018, Eduard Kasparov was recognized as an honorary citizen of Krasnoyarsk.
