“Akademkniga”, the only shop in the city and behind the Urals, which represents this historical brand, opens again on the 23rd of July, in the center of Krasnoyarsk, in Mira St., 66. The re-appearance of the shop became possible due to the collaboration of the Krasnoyarsk Science Center SB RAS and the publishing house “Nauka”.

The reform of the Russian Academy of Sciences resulted in the changes of the relationship between the organizations which used to be within a unified system. The changes could have become fatal for the Krasnoyarsk shop “Akademkniga” which had to be closed for some time. However, the leaders of the Krasnoyarsk Science Center thought that it was important to have such a shop in the city. Thus, it was decided to re-open “Akademkniga”.

The Federal Research Center “Krasnoyarsk Science Center SB RAS” has signed a contract with the publishing house "Nauka” and the shop opens in the center of Krasnoyarsk. The shop begins working on July, 23, it is the only bookshop behind the Urals which sells the books of the publishing house “Nauka”. Also, there will be a great choice of scientific, scientific popular and educational books.

«Akademkniga” will be located at the address: Mira St., 66, the entrance is from the left side of the building. The shop is open on Mo-Fr: 9.00-19.00, on Saturdays: 10.00-16.00. Sunday is the day off. On the occasion of the re-opening the shop gives a 10% discount for all books.

«As far as I know, this is not the best time for book business, many readers prefer digital devices. However, “Akademkniga” is the brand which is well-known to the intellectual society of the country. When the shop was closed we had many questions from the local mass-media and worried people of the city. Thus, it was decided to re-open the shop using the resources of the Krasnoyarsk Science Center. It is planned to accumulate scientific and scientific popular literature of high quality, organize meetings with scientists and presentations of new books. We are ready to work on request, deliver literature on narrow specialities and books on special scientific topics», says the head of the Group of Scientific Communication of the Krasnoyarsk Science Center Egor Zadereev.

“Intelligent” books will be located in three departments. The first one is for scientific professional literature: dictionaries, manuals, monographs, works of scientists. There are books on linguistics, literature studies, folklore, history, philosophy, economics, orientalism, chemistry, physics, architecture and design, forest industry and agriculture, books about different nations and cultures and classical literature.

Some shelves are given to literature on medicine, especially to books on narrow specialities. There will be a lot of such books since it is not easy to find reliable and science-based information in this area. In bookshops there is no sufficient literature on psychiatry, and “Akademkniga” will develop this direction.

The second department will be «populated » with scientific educational literature for children and schoolchildren, encyclopedias, literature for the preparation for exams, books in foreign languages and books for learning languages, books on philosophy, psychology, music, culture, cooking and marketing.

In the central department, there are many books by the local Krasnoyarsk authors as well as gift editions. The biggest number of books in the shop is represented by the publishing house “Nauka”. Many of these books are not available in other shops; this literature is very peculiar. Educational literature is almost absent in the bookshops of the city or the amount is not sufficient. «Akademkniga will fill in this gap and will offer a great choice of scientific literature for any need.
