Photonics is a science which studies photons, elementary particles that make up light. Ivan Timofeev, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Head of the Laboratory at the Institute of Physics of the Federal Research Center of KSC SB RAS and Institute of Engineering Physics and Radioelectronics of the Siberian Federal University, told Channel 7 in the program “Popular science” about photonics, what discoveries it brought to scientists, and what else we are to anticipate from this science. Even if this new word "photonics" doesn't tell you anything, then after the program you will be able to figure out how it works, where it is applied, how it affects our life and why photonics can be compared to music.
