Krasnoyarsk Mathematical Center is developing the field of modern IT technologies and the Internet of Things

Красноярский математический центр развивает сферу современных IT-технологий и Интернета вещей
The priority task of creating mathematical centers is the introduction of new approaches to the training of qualified personnel capable of solving complex scientific and applied problems, promptly responding to the modern demands of industry and the state. Information technology has long become an integral part of any production process, and the number of vacancies in the IT industry significantly exceeds the volume of specialists produced by educational institutions in this segment.

The issue of developing new approaches to teaching university students in the field of information technology, the Internet of things, artificial intelligence, telecommunications security and big data analysis is being developed at the Krasnoyarsk Mathematical Center, created in 2020 as part of the Science and Universities national project on the basis of the Institute of Computational Modeling of SB RAS and the Siberian Federal University, and supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. To solve this problem, the Institute of Computational Modeling of SB RAS has created a specialized platform that combines tools for studying the technological features and security problems of distributed devices and applications of the Internet of Things. It is focused on the study of the notonal concepts of the subject area and the acquisition of practical skills in designing and developing information solutions, researching the functions of telecommunications equipment and systems for managing and monitoring data.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a concept of technology development towards their automation and exclusion of human participation from most processes of the IT infrastructure. Such a system is a global complex of the information society, which provides digital services through the interaction of virtual and physical objects with each other and with the environment. This is a set of autonomous items combined into a single system, for example, such as a smart home.

The platform, developed at the Institute of Computational Modeling of SB RAS, consists of four functional levels: sensor, transport, service and applied ones. The first one consists of sensors that collect information about the state of the observed objects in real time. The transport layer includes gateways and data transmission networks; this layer receives data generated by devices: Internet of things. Combining these two layers represents the device infrastructure. Applications are placed at the service and application levels, the first one provides data storage, their analytical processing and business process management, and the second contains problem-oriented applications that solve problems in a specific subject area. With this distribution, one can ensure the autonomy of data collection and their compatibility with the possibility of deploying independent services and applications.

The designed platform allows one to study the methods of collecting data from the Internet of Things and managing devices, set up a communication environment, set methods for storing and analytical data processing, and create applications for solving applied problems.

“The Mathematical Center has deployed a scalable platform of distributed devices and applications, which contains all the functional levels of the Internet of Things. The constructed research platform of the Internet of Things expands the approach to teaching theoretical disciplines traditionally presented at the Krasnoyarsk Mathematical Center: "Information and Computing Networks" and "Intelligent Systems" with modern "thing-oriented", "Internet-oriented" and "semantic-oriented" technologies, providing immersion in the thematic environment for the successful implementation of the process of training qualified IT specialists,” said Olga Isayeva, supervisor of the platform, Doctor of Technical Sciences, senior researcher at the Institute of Computational Modeling of SB RAS.
