June 22, 1941 is a tragic date in the history of Russia, the day of the beginning of the bloodiest drama of the 20th century - the Great Patriotic War. Every year, on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, we bow our heads to those killed on the battlefields, in the Nazi concentration camps, starving to death, and missing in action. We pay tribute to everyone who went through the war and returned a peaceful life to our land.


On the Day of the start of the Great Patriotic War, June 22, a minute of silence is declared in Russia at 12:15, Moscow time. It was at these very moments, in 1941, that the inhabitants of the Soviet Union were officially informed about the attack of Nazi Germany and the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The minute of silence on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow is a symbol of the eternal people's memory of the victims of fascism, a symbol of rejection of aggression and Nazism, and the protection of universal values.
