On February 3, the administration of the Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) visited Akademgorodok. The representatives of the administration got acquaintance with the laboratories of the L.V. Kirensky Institute of Physics KSC SB RAS as part of the working visit of a group of the TUSUR leading figures to Krasnoyarsk. Tomsk colleagues were accompanied during the excursion to the Institute of Physics by the rector and first vice-rector of the M.F. Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology, E.Sh. Akbulatov and V.A. Kureshov.

The Institute of Physics and the Siberian State University of Science and Technology has close long-term relations of partnership and scientific cooperation. In a sense, the university trains specialists for the Research Center.

Edkham Shukrievich Akbulatov, Rector of the Reshetnev University: “We have signed a number of agreements on cooperation with the Center, first of all, on personnel training. The Center is interested in promising young researchers who will come to work here. And this applies not only to the Institute of Physics, but also to the Institute of Biophysics, and the Institute of Forest. At one time, we created a scientific and educational center “Institute of Space and High Technologies” to be integrated with the Krasnoyarsk Science Center of SB RAS. Today, a number of employees in KSC are part-time workers, and teachers at the departments of our university. Due to this, the subjects for training masters and partly bachelors correspond to the demand in the academic institutions of SB RAS. We think this is a very positive trend! Today, new devices, new technical problems, new applied problems in the field of the nanotechnology, for example, can no longer be solved without the results of fundamental research.”

Ivan Yakovlev, a graduate of the Siberian State University, and now a researcher at the laboratory of physics of magnetic phenomena at the Institute of Physics, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, told about the results of cooperation between the university and the center.

“As part of the research work of students, we once went here to do our term papers, and  then we defended our diplomas. I was very interested in nanotechnology, and I continued to deal with it as a laboratory employee. Today I am happy with my choice. We have interesting work - studying new materials, using these materials in devices, working together with a Radioengineering plant and other enterprises. I am already a Candidate of sciences, the current perspective is to become a Doctor of Sciences."

The excursion to two laboratories of physics of magnetic phenomena, which are equipped with unique installations for the synthesis of magnetic and semiconductor materials of the widest class, was guided by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Sergei Varnakov, Deputy Director for Science of the Institute of Physics. The Tomsk colleagues were interested in the final production cycle and the possibility of selling the manufactured nanoproduct.

The delegation was also addressed by the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences Nikita Boev, head of the laboratory of scientific instrumentation. He presented instruments and highly sensitive sensors created in the laboratory. The delegates were attracted by the operation of a unique deep-water digital communication system, which Krasnoyarsk scientists tested at the bottom of the reservoir of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station. Many industrial enterprises are showing interest in such devices nowadays; there is a great demand for them on the market. This is a promising production area.
