The XIV International Conference "Metallurgy of non-ferrous, rare and noble metals" was held in Krasnoyarsk

22 September 2021 г.

В Красноярске состоялась XIV международная Конференция «Металлургия цветных, редких и благородных металлов»
On September 6-9, an international conference "Metallurgy of non-ferrous, rare and noble metals" was held, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICСT SB RAS). The organizers of the Conference were ICCT SB RAS and the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science of the Siberian Federal University. The Conference was attended by about 60 participants from Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. 40 reports were presented by representatives of research institutes, universities and enterprises.

The reports were made by the employees of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of SB RAS, Federal Research Center "KSC SB RAS", Center for Nanomaterials Science and Laboratory of Nature-Like Technologies and Technospheric Safety of the Arctic of the Kola Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Chemistry of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, N.S. Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of RAS, Institute of Metallurgy of the Ural Branch of RAS, Institute of Solid State Chemistry and Mechanochemistry SB RAS, “Scientific Research Center “Hydrometallurgy” LLC.

Colleagues from different universities took an active part in the Conference, namely, Siberian Federal University, B.N. Yeltsin Ural Federal University, Novosibirsk State Technical University, etc.

A number of reports were made by industrial enterprises: MMC Norilsk Nickel, Polar Branch of PJSC, LLC Amur Hydrometallurgical Plant, LLC Rare Metals Plant (Novosibirsk Region), LLC INTECO, RADOS (Krasnoyarsk), Research center of JSC "Polyus Krasnoyarsk" and others. The representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan also participated in the conference, these were JSC "Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation", Satbayev University (Almaty), and the Republic of Uzbekistan was represented by the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Tashkent) and Navoi State Mining Institute (Navoi).

The organizers noted the active participation of young scientists, post-graduate students and students in the Conference. Based on the results of the Conference, an electronic Collection of Abstracts was published, and the Organizing Committee of the Conference determined the four best reports of young scientists:

- "Electrophysical activation of hydrometallurgical processing of oxidized nickel ores of the Ural region", by L.V. Sokolov, B.N. Yeltsin UrFU, Yekaterinburg, Russia;

- "Reducing gold losses during the processing of gold-antimony concentrates", by V.А. Puchkina, “Scientific Research Center Hydrometallurgy” LLC, St. Petersburg, Russia;

- "Determination of the conditions for the synthesis of iron-erbium garnet nanopowder  and study of the properties of the resulting product", by E.A. Kirshneva, Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology SB RAS, Krasnoyarsk, Russia;

- "Enrichment of kaolinite clay of the Alekseevskoye deposit", by S. B. Dyusenov, JSC "Institute of Metallurgy and Beneficiation", Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Due to the increased interest of the representatives of the scientific and technological communities in solving the problems of processing mineral raw materials and scientific and technological achievements in this area, the organizing committee decided to organize a regular online seminar "Research and technological development in metallurgy of non-ferrous, rare and noble metals." The seminar is planned to be held annually with the involvement of leading specialists in academic and university science, and industrial enterprises.

"This year the international XIV conference "Metallurgy of non-ferrous, rare and noble metals ", preceding the anniversary celebration and dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology SB RAS, was organized jointly with the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science of the Siberian Federal University and it was held on-line from 6 to 9 September. The conference was attended by over 60 people, and 40 reports of scientists and specialists from the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan were presented. The conference showed the importance and great interest of representatives of the scientific and technological communities in solving the problems of processing mineral raw materials and scientific and technical achievements in this area. The organizers of the event made a proposal, and then unanimously decided to name the International Conference "Metallurgy of non-ferrous, rare and noble metals" after a metallurgical scientist, Doctor of technical sciences, professor, corresponding member of RAS, an outstanding organizer and founder of the Conference, Gennady Leonidovich Pashkov", - told  Alla Kokorina, engineer of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of SB RAS, member of the organizing committee.
