The Russian Science Foundation has announced the winners of the 2020 grant competition for the “Initiative Research by Young Scientists” of the Presidential Program for Research Projects. The program was developed by the Foundation in 2017 as instructed by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin. Its main objectives are to support long-term projects of leading scientists and create career opportunities for promising young researchers.

According to the results of the competition, the Foundation supported 313 initiative projects of young scientists in the amount of 1.5–2 million roubles annually. The competition is aimed at supporting young scientists under the age of 33 who defended their thesis.

The winners of the competition in the Krasnoyarsk Science Center SB RAS are:

Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Ivan Tarasov with the project “Influence of epitaxial alignment of quasi-two-dimensional iron silicide α-FeSi2 crystals on the formation of the Schottky barrier in the silicide/silicon structure”

Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Evgeniya Kovaleva with the project “Influence of doping and intrinsic defects on the electronic properties and catalytic activity of nanosized oxide materials”
